NEW PORT RICHEY - Gulf senior tailback Tevin Gamble's season came to an end Friday morning when he had surgery on his broken ankle. Starting quarterback Madison Burr missed the game with a cut foot from an accident at home Wednesday night.

But none of this mattered Friday night. The Buccaneers, behind the 432-yard rushing performance by Adrian Golden, remained undefeated with a 52-28 victory against rival Ridgewood (2-2) at Ram Boosters Stadium.

"We dedicated this game to Tevin," Gulf coach Jay Fulmer said. "We're going to give him the game ball. It's really tough for him to lose his senior season."

Golden, who transferred from Ridgewood to Gulf the day before practiced started in August, wore Gamble's No. 1 jersey as a tribute to him. Golden's performance is believed to be the most rushing yards ever recorded in Pasco County.

From the opening kickoff, everyone knew it was going to be a Golden night. The senior, who now has 1,090 yards in five games, scored a 68-yard touchdown on the second play of the game. It was his first of six TDs. His other scores were on runs of 15, 3, 2, 35 and 69. Golden now has 18 TDs this season.

Gulf (5-0) finished with 504 yards rushing and 524 total offense.
