RALEIGH, N.C. - Chris Crane scampered around the left side for a 13-yard touchdown with 22.8 seconds left to help Boston College beat North Carolina State 38-31 on Saturday.

Crane's third rushing score capped a huge day for the quarterback, who also threw for 428 yards and two scores to help the Eagles (4-1, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) hold on despite blowing a 14-point fourth-quarter lead. Rich Gunnell had 11 catches for 123 yards and a score for Boston College, which finished with 578 yards.
Russell Wilson threw for a touchdown and ran for two more, including the tying 2-yard keeper with 3:33 left as the Wolfpack (2-4, 0-2) rallied from a 31-17 deficit early in the final quarter. The redshirt freshman connected with Owen Spencer for a 61-yard touchdown catch to start the rally, and finished with 218 yards passing.

T.J. Graham added a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for N.C. State, which struggled to find much offense on the day. The Wolfpack finished with 253 total yards.

NO. 20 VIRGINIA TECH 27,

WESTERN KENTUCKY 13

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Darren Evans ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Tyrod Taylor had one passing as No. 20 Virginia Tech (5-1) defeated Western Kentucky (2-4).

Taylor made a 27-yard pass to Greg Boone for the Hokies first touchdown with 5:10 left in the first quarter. Taylor had 125 yards passing before being replaced by Sean Glennon with 8:58 left in the third quarter.

VIRGINIA 31, MARYLAND 0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Marc Verica threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Virginia finally clicked on offense and stunned Maryland.

The Cavaliers (2-3, 1-1) had been outscored 128-20 in three previous games against Bowl Subdivision teams, but exploded on offense against Maryland.

Virginia's Cedric Peerman ran for 110 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown.

The touchdown put Maryland (4-2, 1-1) in a 31-0 hole, and made certain that the Cavaliers wouldn't blow it this time. Two years ago, Virginia led the Terrapins 20-0 at halftime only to give up 28 consecutive points and lose 28-26 at home.

GEORGIA TECH 27, DUKE 0

ATLANTA - Jaybo Shaw kept it simple in his first start for Georgia Tech: Pass to Demaryius Thomas and hand it off to Jonathan Dwyer.

Shaw had 230 yards passing on nine completions, all to Thomas, Dwyer ran for a career-best 159 yards and Georgia Tech (4-1, 2-1) shut out Duke (3-2, 1-1).

The 230 yards receiving by Thomas is the second-highest total in school history; Dez White had 243 yards against Virginia in 1998.
