NEW PORT RICHEY - Wild hogs, beware.

The real shooting gets cracking Jan. 22-25 and March 3-6 at Starkey Wilderness Preserve. Hunts also are scheduled Feb. 6-8 and Feb. 20-22 at the Alston Tract, part of the Upper Hillsborough Tract. The entrance to the tract, which stretches into Polk County, is east of Zephyrhills on State Road 39.
Online registration can be completed at the district's Web site, www.WaterMatters.org/hoghunts. A limited number of permits will be available for $50 each and sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
