Body In Mandalay Channel ID'd As 85-Year-Old Woman

CLEARWATER - The body of an elderly woman was found in Mandalay Channel this morning behind 521 Mandalay Ave., said Joelle Castelli, a city spokeswoman.

The woman has been identified as Peggy Abelson, 85, Castelli said. She was residing at the Cavalier Resort Motel, 64 Bay Esplanade, No. 6.

The cause of death was unknown. She was discovered at about 7 a.m.

There is nothing to indicate the death is suspicious, Castelli said.
