TAMPA - An effort in Hillsborough County to push for transit-friendly developments was delayed until the end of the month.
The county's Transportation Task Force could not muster a quorum this afternoon to vote on a set of guiding principles, including one affecting future subdivisions, offices and shopping centers.
The "Guiding Principle for Land Use" called for future projects to support "transit corridors and nodes," meaning developers would need to keep buses and trains in mind when proposing projects in certain areas of the county.
The measure is set to be voted upon Oct. 26. Even if approved, the task force's vote is not binding on county government. Ultimately, county commissioners must decide the issue before the changes can be adopted.
