BRANDON - The elections office has mailed absentee ballots to voters in Hillsborough County and far-flung places around the world.
In all, about a record 72,000 ballots were mailed - 62,000 to Hillsborough addresses and to people who want to cast ballots at their leisure or who won't be in the area Nov. 4.
With a crunch of voters expected to show up at the polls on Election Day, Supervisor of Elections Buddy Johnson said, the absentee ballots are an easy way to vote early and avoid long lines.
