Police: Suspect's Brother Threatens Victim's Mom

TAMPA - John Carter, whose 30-year-old brother was charged with sexual battery on a victim younger than 12, drove to the girl's home and threatened her mother, Tampa police say.
Police arrested Carter on Sunday afternoon. He was charged with tampering with a witness.
His brother, Richard Lee Carter, was arrested Friday night for a sexual offense involving an 11-year-old. Police say Richard Carter threatened the girl to keep her from reporting the offense.
John Carter later drove onto the mother's property and told her that when Richard Carter gets out of jail, Richard Carter will "get her and her family members one by one," police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.
Richard Carter remains in Orient Road Jail. No bail has been set.
John Carter, 32, of Tampa, has been released from jail on $2,000 bail.
