The U.S. Marshals Service has captured a man sought in the 2006 slayings of two Pasco County teenagers, authorities said this morning.
Luc Pierre-Charles Jr., 20, is being held at the Brevard County Jail, according to an online database search. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Pierre-Charles, who was on the Marshals' 15 Most Wanted List.
Pierre-Charles is one of two men accused of gunning down two teenagers on Harris Hill Road in Trilby two years ago. A man on his way to work discovered the bodies of Derek James Pieper, 17, and Raymond Alphonse Veluz, 18, about 6 a.m. July 28, 2006. About an hour earlier, the man's wife had heard what she thought were firecrackers.
The other man accused in the slayings, Tyree Jenkins, 22, has been in custody in Pasco County since September, jail records show.
Authorities said in previous news reports that Pieper began hanging out with Pierre-Charles and some other people but became fearful when he realized they were involved in drug dealing and carrying weapons. The teenager tried to distance himself from Pierre-Charles, who thought Pieper had tipped off a rival drug dealer that Pierre-Charles was after him and threatened the teen, authorities said.
Pieper and Veluz were last seen alive at a party about a week later. Authorities said Veluz wanted to buy some marijuana and, having no luck elsewhere, Pieper called Pierre-Charles and arranged to meet him.
