$23 Billion Candy Monster
Mars Inc. closed a $23 billion deal Monday to purchase chewing-gum company Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. to become the world's largest candy maker. At the end of Monday, Wrigley's stock ceased trading publicly. Wrigley shareholders will receive $80 for each share after they approved the deal last month.
2,063 People For 300 Jobs
The job market out there might be tighter than you think. On Sept. 26 and 27, the Shops at Wiregrass held a job fair for 300 retail and restaurant positions at the mall, which will open in Wesley Chapel on Oct. 30. With the rising unemployment rate, the mall was expecting a big turnout of jobseekers, but the two-day total was staggering: 2,063 people came.
