TAMPA - Prosecutors dropped charges against Luella McAdoo, 69, who was accused with forcing a mentally disabled man to perform a sex act on her.
Assistant State Attorney Rita Peters said the victim's family asked that the prosecution be dismissed.
The victim's mother had said she and Peters have been friends for decades and McAdoo occasionally babysat her son, a 34-year-old whom the mother said has the mental capacity of a 2-year-old.
The mother said she caught the pair in the act when she returned home early from shopping April 5. McAdoo initially claimed she was the victim.
The mother said at the time of the arrest she didn't want McAdoo to go to jail but felt betrayed by her friend.
Prosecutors filed a formal request to dismiss the charges Monday.
