The U.S. women's national soccer team, winner of this summer's gold medal in the Bejing Olympics, will take on South Korea at Raymond James Stadium on Nov. 8, U.S. Soccer Federation officials announced Tuesday.
The match, slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff, is part of the U.S. squad's "Achieve Your Gold Tour." It's the American women's first appearance in Tampa since 1999 and their first ever at RJS. The tour is taking the Olympic champions across the country to celebrate its gold medal performance in China. The Americars are 3-0 so far and have yet to surrender a goal.
Tickets go on sale to the public Friday at 10 a.m. at ussoccer.com, by phone at 813-287-8844 and at all area Ticketmaster outlets.
Midfielder Carli Lloyd, who scored the game-winning goal in overtime of the gold medal match against Brazil, and goalkeeper Hope Solo, who had the shutout in that game, headline the U.S. roster. Fifteen of the 18 players from the Olympic roster are on the tour.
