Virginia Man Charged In Rape Of 11-Year-Old Tampa Girl

A 33-year-old man is being held without bail today, accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in Tampa, police say.
Damion Robert Collins of Richmond, Va., arrived at the Orient Road Jail on Monday after being extradited from Grimes County, Texas, jail records show. He was arrested in Texas on five warrants charging him with felony sexual battery on a victim younger than 12.
Tampa police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor said the charges are related to a day in April when the girl said Collins had sexual intercourse with her five times. The girl reported the activity to a neighbor, who contacted police, McGregor said.
No other information was available because of the nature of the charges.
