St. Petersburg police arrested a man early this morning and charged him in the slaying of an acquaintance.
At 11:28 p.m. Tuesday, police received a call about an injured person at 3030 Melton St. N., where officers found Douglas Jarvis, 58, of that address, with unspecified trauma to his upper body, according to a department news release.
Jarvis was transported to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after midnight, police said.
After an investigation, police arrested Paul Wiley, 38, with no permanent address given, several hours later. Police said Wiley, an acquaintance of the victim, was charged with second-degree murder.
