TAMPA - A 48-year-old man was sentenced to 34 years in prison Wednesday after he was found guilty on two counts of armed robbery, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Clifford Darden's prison term will be followed by five years of supervised release, U.S. District Judge William J. Castagna ruled.
Prosecutors say Darden's accomplice, Aaron Lamar Hollins, 19, pleaded guilty in July and sentenced to seven years and 10 months in prison. According to testimony during the trial, Darden and Hollins committed two armed robberies in Tampa in 2007: Kris & Pamela's Market, 1018 Cass St., and a Kwik Stop store at 6106 Westshore Blvd.
In the robbery at Kris & Pamela's Market, Darden was armed with a .22 caliber revolver but was shot by the cashier who then chased the pair out of the store, prosecutors said.
