TAMPA - Rush-hour traffic moved smoothly through Memorial Highway this morning despite worries motorists would be delayed after the airport exit was moved to the highway's right side.
Three weeks ago, motorists were caught in a massive traffic jam when the Department of Transportation moved the Tampa International Airport and the Spruce Street exits to the highway's left side during construction.
This morning the airport exit went back to its original spot, on the right side of southbound Memorial Highway (also known as eastbound State Road 60), but this time motorists seemed easily to adjust to the change.
The DOT spent more than a week warning motorists about the exit shift. The next big shift will happen in December when the Spruce Street exit is moved back to the right side.
