Man Charged In Haines City Rape Case Released On Bail

A man wanted by police in a Haines City rape case turned himself in Tuesday and was released today on bail.
Hazell Stoudemire Jr., a registered sex offender, turned himself in at the Polk County Jail, Capt. Mervin Stewart said. He was charged with sexual battery, kidnapping and aggravated assault, all felonies, and battery, a misdemeanor.
Police say Stoudemire sexually battered the woman in her home Saturday, then kidnapped her and took her to his residence at 2110 Mallory Circle, where she was assaulted and sexually battered again.
The woman, who is not being identified because of the nature of the crime, was treated at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center and released.
Stoudemire, 31, has not made any statements to police.
