Students from fourth through ninth grades at Melrose Elementary and John Hopkins Middle schools will share their impressions of St. Petersburg's Midtown Community in a 100-photo exhibit and 32-page magazine beginning Friday at The Studio@620.
The exhibit, "Midtown Through Our Eyes," and Midtown Magazine are the result of a 12-day journalism summer camp the 44 students attended. Students went on field trips through the Midtown neighborhood, visited business owners and interviewed city leaders, a news release stated. The activities are funded by the Eckerd College Center for Applied Liberal Arts.
The exhibit will be on display at The Studio@620 through Oct. 18. It will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Additional events at The Studio@620 related to the Midtown exhibits are:
• "A Taste of Midtown" from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The event will feature Midtown restaurants and entertainment from a community drum line.
• Student and professional poets will be featured in an "Expression of Poetry" from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 17.
