Thrifty travelers seeking a Florida beach vacation might check out Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota/Bradenton and St. Petersburg/Clearwater if hotel prices from the latest data hold true.
Hoteliers in glitzy Fort Lauderdale, with a glut of splashy new hotels, reported the lowest average daily rate, excluding Florida's Panhandle, of $96.69 in August, the lowest among nine Florida beach destinations.
The average daily rate data reported by Tennessee-based Smith Travel Research reflects rooms that were sold during the month.
