TAMPA - A verbal argument between two men escalated into a stabbing this afternoon, according to Tampa police.
Willie Lee Rivers, 58, of 3302 N. Florida Ave., and Robert Pruitt, 74, with no known address, had a verbal argument earlier in the day, then ran into each at Borrell Park, Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said. Their confrontation flared again at 2:39 p.m., McElroy said, and Rivers pulled a knife out of his backpack and stabbed Pruitt.
Pruitt went an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Rivers was arrested and charged with aggravated battery
