New York Post gossip columnist Cindy Adams says she has confirmed a rumor that has been circulating this week: GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is going to appear on "Saturday Night Live."
However, an "SNL" spokesman said today that the report is incorrect.
This election season has been a ratings bonanza for the comedy program, particularly because former "SNL" head writer (and "30 Rock" star) Tina Fey has returned to play Palin in sketches, doing a dead-on impersonation of the Alaska governor.
According to Adams, Palin has OK'd the deal and is booked to be on the show: "She — eyeglasses, haircomb, designer jacket and trunkful of gosh-darns, golly-gees and gol-dangs — will be on 'SNL' Saturday night, Oct. 25. Sarah's rehearsal time has already been penciled in for Friday the 24th. And it's because she wants to do it."
Asked via e-mail today whether he could confirm or deny Adams' item, NBC and "SNL" spokesman Marc Liepis wrote back: "Her item is wrong."
