A 79-year-old Dunedin woman charged in a Pinellas County traffic crash has died as a result of her injuries, troopers say.
The crash occurred Sept. 23. Eileen P. Murphy died Sept. 30 from her injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, which assigned the case today to traffic homicide investigators.
On Sept. 23, Murphy's 1991 Toyota was heading south on U.S. 19 near Innisbrook Drive when she failed to stop for a traffic signal, entering the intersection, troopers say. The front of her Toyota struck the left front of Keri McIntosh's 2008 Hyundai. McIntosh, 17, of New Port Richey, suffered minor injuries.
The front of Murphy's vehicle struck a concrete bench and a pedestrian signal pole, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. Murphy was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she died Sept. 30.
