TAMPA - They worked together on a local television show. Their contracts were terminated at the same time. Now they plan to get married.
Comedian Tim Wilkins and TV host Michelle Phillips have announced they plan to wed next summer.
The two met while Wilkins was performing at a comedy club in Sarasota. They later auditioned and won the roles as hosts of "Studio 10," a morning talk show on WTSP, Channel 10.
Phillips had worked at WTSP as a makeup artist. Wilkins continued to perform in comedy clubs. "Studio 10" was launched in September 2006. Wilkins and Phillips were the hosts until May.
Wilkins left the show to pursue his comedy career. He has since relocated to Los Angeles. Phillips has been contributing to the nationally syndicated series "The Buzz," which is taped in Orlando.
Wilkins says they were attracted to each other from the outset.
"Before the first commercial was over, the chemistry on- and off-screen was evident," he says. "We were in to such a comfortable place on camera that she was finishing my sentences. By the end of the first year, I realized I couldn't finish my own sentences off camera and wanted her by my side."
