TAMPA - The number of homes sold in Hillsborough County improved slightly in September, a sign that buyers are being attracted to lower home prices, economists say.
There were 1,345 sales, up from 1,327 sales in August, according to the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors. The inventory of unsold homes slowly is dwindling, the association said. It would take 14.21 months to sell all the homes on the market, at the current selling pace.
That's a long time, the group says, but it's much better than the figure for January, when the area had a 26 month inventory.
"To see the figure at its current level is more than encouraging," said Deborah Farmer, president of the association.
