TAMPA - Bring your nickels Saturday.
Streetcar rides will be 5 cents all day in downtown Tampa in recognition of the TECO Line streetcar system's six-year anniversary.
The annual Streetcar Fest includes coupons for children 10 and younger to eat free at participating Ybor City restaurants, plus $5 off admission to the Florida Aquarium. Tours of the streetcar barn in Ybor will be provided.
NEW PORT RICHEY - When Darryl Garman became an officer in Pasco County's most populous city 25 years ago, things were much different.
The police station was in a small building on Grand Boulevard which, instead of having holding cells, had a single bolt on the floor to which scofflaws could be handcuffed. Cruisers weren't equipped with any sort of computers, let alone laptops.
Through the years, Garman, 49, has risen through the ranks from patrolman to assistant chief. And he's not the same man he used to be. Let's just say sunscreen must be applied atop his head when he's not wearing his hat. And his uniforms might be a different size than during those early years.
Garman retires from the police department today.
RUSKIN - The next stop for the Journey - Calvary Lutheran Church's student ministry program - will be the golf course.

The goal is to raise $20,000. The cost to register is $100.

PLANT CITY - Wedding bells will ring for a Plant City couple during the 2009 Florida Strawberry Festival.
Jennifer Faircloth, 19, and Jess Lingerfelt, 22, will be treated to a wedding with a berry theme - right down to the wedding cake.
The Plant City High School graduates won a festival-sponsored contest by submitting a photo and a 300- to 500-word essay on why they would love to have a "strawberry wedding."
The wedding takes place at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 28; the ceremony will be open to all festival visitors.
Tribune reporters Rich Shopes, Lisa A. Davis, John Ceballos, Dave Nicholson and George H. Newman contributed to this report.
