TAMPA - A man is being held without bail at the Orient Road Jail this morning after he was accused of choking his disabled girlfriend during an argument, records show.
Dennis McCloskey, 51, is charged with felony battery by strangulation and felony battery on a disabled person. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested him in the 7300 block of Ponderosa Drive in Temple Terrace about 4:17 p.m. Thursday, jail records say.
According to an affidavit, McCloskey was visiting his girlfriend at that address when they got into an argument about 3:45 p.m. The woman is disabled, according to medical records, the affidavit states.
McCloskey grabbed the woman by the throat, threw her on the trunk of her vehicle, threw her purse on the ground and tried to take her keys, the affidavit states. The affidavit does not list the extent of her injuries.
