Two men beat and took money from a hearing-impaired man at a convenience store in unincorporated St. Petersburg, Pinellas County deputies say.
The beating occurred 12:45 p.m. Thursday at Quick Food and Deli, 7539 46th Ave. N.
Deputies are continuing to search for the men.
One of the suspects entered the store and approached the hearing-impaired man, who also can't speak, deputies say. The suspect spoke to the victim and gestured for him to come outside the store, where the victim works part time.
The victim followed the suspect behind the store, and the second suspect struck the victim in the head, a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office news release states. The suspects kicked and hit him before leaving with his wallet in a tan or gray sport utility vehicle, which may have been a Honda CRV.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene.
The first suspect is a roughly 30-year-old white man who weighs about 170 pounds and is 6 feet tall. He has short brown hair and was last seen wearing sunglasses, a T-shirt, multicolored plaid shorts and athletic shoes.
The other suspect is a roughly 30-year-old white man who weighs about 200 pounds and is 6 feet tall. He has a buzz cut, with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a gray tank-top.
Those with information can call Pinellas County Detective Jeremy Nygren at (727) 582-6200 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 873-TIPS.
