Woman, Dog Die In Sarasota County House Fire

A 51-year-old woman and a family dog were found dead after a fire in Sarasota County on Friday evening, according to the Sarasota County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at 2924 Woodpine Circle at 8:58 p.m., three minutes after learning of the blaze. Responding units knew there might be a person inside the burning single-story home.
Firefighters tried entering the home but backed away when the roof gave way, a fire department news release states. Eventually, they entered the home and found the woman and dog.
The fire was under control at 9:26 p.m.
The state fire marshal is working to determine the cause of the blaze.
