Virginia Williams is suing a Plant City pub, claiming it was negligent by serving alcohol to a 20-year-old Dover man who later was involved in a crash with her Chevrolet.
She is suing O'Brien's Irish Pub of Plant City for unspecified damages in excess of $15,000.
Williams claims the pub was negligent by serving alcohol to Andrew Pierce, who became intoxicated and later was involved in the crash, according to a lawsuit filed today in Hillsborough County Circuit Court.
Williams' lawyer and the pub's owner could not immediately be reached.
The crash happened at 1:35 a.m. March 15 on U.S. 92 at Bethlehem Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Pierce, driving a 2000 GMC pickup westbound, tried to pass traffic by crossing into the eastbound lane. An eastbound 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe hit the pickup driven by Williams, the patrol said. Pierce died in the crash.
Further details on the crash weren't immediately available.
