TAMPA - Hillsborough running back Lindsey Lamar rushed for a career-high 239 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Terriers to a 56-19 Class 4A-District 11 win against Freedom at Chelo Huerta Field on Friday.

"He's amazing," Hillsborough coach Earl Garcia said. "He's quickly becoming one of the best we've had here, ever."

Lamar's five touchdown runs covered 215 yards.

Hillsborough (5-1, 2-0), ranked No. 5 in the Tribune Top 10, has won three consecutive games and has outscored its past two opponents 117-33.

The Terriers wasted little time getting on the board as Lamar took a pitch and raced around the right side for a 68-yard score on the game's first play from scrimmage.

Lamar added three more long touchdown runs in the first half. He went in from 39 yards at the 8:06 mark of the first quarter, from 53 at the 6:58 mark of the second and from 45 with 42 seconds remaining before halftime.

"It was real fun out there," said Lamar, whose final touchdown came late in the third quarter from 10 yards out. "My line did a great job opening things up for me. Those holes were humungous."

After opening the season with a win against neighborhood rival Wharton, the Patriots (1-4, 0-2) have now lost four consecutive games and 13 of their past 15.

Patriots quarterback Josh Grady, who suffered a hamstring injury last week against Alonso, hobbled his way through a gutsy performance.

"He's probably about 60 percent right now," Freedom coach Marquel Blackwell said. "I was going to keep him out, but he said he could go."

Grady finished 11-for-23 for 206 yards and one touchdown. He was picked off twice, both by Nate Singletary.

Sherrod Cunningham had a big night for the Patriots. He rushed 15 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns (4, 13). He also caught two passes for 56 yards and another score.

Freedom receiver Chase Croy had five receptions for 106 yards.

Hillsborough quarterback Tarean Austin, who rushed for a score, was 10-for-18 for 196 yards and one touchdown. Colby Walden was Austin's favorite target, catching four passes for 79 yards and a touchdown.
