HOLIDAY - The Friends of the Centennial Park Library is sponsoring a local author fair Oct. 18.
The event, which will run from 1 to 3 p.m., will benefit readers in search of local writers and the writers themselves.
"We often get inquiries from local authors about book signings," said librarian Linda Rothstein. "This is a way to accommodate their requests and to highlight local writing talent."
Eight to 12 authors are set to participate. Their work runs the gamut - from historical fiction to memoirs, from poetry to history.
For aspiring authors, organizers plan to have a display of books to help ambitious writers polish and publish their work, whether that's poetry, children's literature or other genres.
"They can ask the writers at the fair about their experiences," Rothstein said. "They can get some encouragement from our writers and information about how to navigate the publishing world."
Additional authors are welcome to participate. Call Rothstein at (727) 834-3204 or e-mail her at lindar@pasco libraries.org.
Ultimately, Rothstein hopes the fair will serve as a showcase for area writers.
"I want people to appreciate the depth and variety of writers in this area," she said. "I hope we get to have the fair every year."
The library is at 5740 Moog Road.
