THE DIFFERENCE: Berkeley (4-1) controlled the ball and played solid defense, allowing just one touchdown in each half against Clearwater Central Catholic (3-3), which managed to keep the game within reach before falling short on the game's final play.
GAME NOTES: CCC fumbled on the game's first play from scrimmage to set up Berkeley's first score on a 14-yard pass from freshman Destin Nichols to Nick Orobello. ... Nichols also found receiver Jordan Crockett for a 22-yard TD in the second quarter. ... Reggie Barnes, another freshman, blocked a CCC punt in the third quarter and recovered it in the end zone to increase the Buccaneers' lead to 24-10 ... CCC running back Micah Poole scored on a 39-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to even the score at 7... Quarterback Eric Miller connected with Chris Taylor on a 65 yard-bomb in the fourth to end the scoring for the Marauders.
STAT OF THE GAME: Berkeley twins Julian and Jordan Crockett combined for 124 yards rushing, to go with Jordan's touchdown reception.
