THE DIFFERENCE: Gaither scored all of its points in the first quarter as it recorded a homecoming win against district opponent Mitchell.
GAME NOTES: When Gaither quarterback Kamren Hawkins was injured six minutes into the first quarter, backup quarterback Dominic Marino stepped in and lead the Cowboys to a scoring drive by hitting wide receiver Dylan Fisher for a 29-yard touchdown pass. Running back Jarvis Giles ran in a two-point conversion to make it 14-0 and Gaither never looked back. ... Giles rushed 18 times for 113 yards and one touchdown. ... Mitchell running back Ryan Gallagher rushed 17 times for 66 yards while teammate Ricky Trinidad rushed 16 times for 91 yards.
STAT OF THE GAME: There were six sacks in the game. Mitchell had two sacks and Gaither had four. George Danes and Anthony Chickillo recorded one-and-a-half sacks apiece for the Cowboys.
