THE DIFFERENCE: Tampa Catholic's defense proved to be too strong for St. Petersburg Catholic. The Crusaders held the host Barons to 17 yards rushing, no completions and one first down in the first half while jumping to a 42-0 halftime cushion.
GAME NOTES: It helped that Tampa Catholic took advantage of St. Petersburg's mishaps in the opening minutes. On the kickoff following Henry McCloud's 4-yard run, the game's first score, K.C Schweiberger recovered a SPC fumble on the Barons 14-yard line to set up Daniel Sanabria's 1-yard plunge for a 14-0 lead. ... After SPC's first possession was three-and-out, Colin Carter blocked the punt to give Tampa Catholic the ball on the Barons 11. On the next play Kenny Broadnax hauled in a pass from Christian Green for a 21-0 lead.
STAT OF THE GAME: Before SPC snapped its seventh play from scrimmage, TC led 28-0.
QUOTE OF THE GAME: "Coach Bob Henriquez always said you have to secure the tackle and then go for the strip. Put your helmet on the ball and put the ball on the ground. We were hitting everybody really well. We just balled." - Schweiberger
