TAMPA - Reserve Tampa police Officer Jim McMahon applauded as runners loped by him on the Platt Street Bridge early Saturday.
"You're doing good," added his partner, reserve Officer Andy McIntyre, as between 1,500 and 2,000 runners and walkers participated in the Tampa police 5K/1 mile run and walk to honor fallen officers.
Walkers and runners started out near Tampa police headquarters in the gray early morning light and made their way south and onto Bayshore Boulevard for the scenic leg to Edison Avenue and back.
The entry fees benefit the Tampa Police Museum, the police memorial scholarship program and memorial improvement program.
