TAMPA - Three Bradenton men drove a pickup into Ruskin with more than 400 grams of cocaine Saturday night, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Deputies received information Saturday from a confidential informant that a black GMC pickup would be bringing cocaine north on U.S. 41.
Deputies stopped the pickup for not having a tag light, received consent to search the pickup and found about 420 grams of cocaine inside a center console, a criminal arrest affidavit states. The estimated street value of the drugs was $21,000, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
The men charged with trafficking in cocaine and conspiracy to traffic in cocaine are: Enrique Medrano, 35; Abel Quintero, 25; and Ruben Villegas, 32.
Medrano also was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and introduction of contraband into a detention facility after deputies later found five small bags of cocaine in his front right pants pocket.
All three remained in Orient Road Jail today. Their bail had not been set.
