TAMPA - A crowd cheered as a even larger Confederate flag was hoisted above Interstates 4 and 75 on Sunday.

About 30 people turned out to help the local chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans put up a 30-by-60-foot flag. The initial flag raised June 3 at the I-75 bridge over U.S. 92 measured 30 feet by 50 feet and sparked controversy.

The group plans to cut up the original and sell it on eBay. It hopes to bring in about $30,000, which will be used to finish a memorial park under construction at the flag site.

Except for granite work and pavers in a courtyard, construction at the 1.9-acre park should be finished in about six weeks, said Marion Lambert, a spokesman for the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
