TAMPA - Carnival Cruise Lines, which sails out of the Port of Tampa and four other Florida seaports, said it will raise ticket prices by an undisclosed amount but eliminate fuel surcharges for 2010 cruises.
The Miami-based cruise line on Friday also established guidelines under which the current fuel supplement may be reimbursed to consumers for 2008 and 2009 voyages, depending on fuel prices.
Guests who book a 2010 cruise before Oct. 31 will be charged the fuel supplement but will be eligible for the refunds.
The fuel supplement for Carnival cruises is $9 per person per day for the first and second guest, not to exceed $126 per person per voyage. It also adds $4 per person per day for the third, fourth and fifth guests, not to exceed $56 per person per voyage.
If the price of crude oil on the New York Mercantile Exchange Index is $70 a barrel or less at the 2:30 p.m. close of daily trading on each of 25 consecutive trading days up to five trading days before a passenger's cruise departure, the fuel supplement will be refunded in the form of a shipboard credit.
Oil was priced at $81 this morning.
