Walt Disney World is scheduled to open a dinosaur-themed restaurant today at its Downtown Disney resort area in Lake Buena Vista.
T-Rex is the first project in Disney's pursuit of more family-oriented dining and shopping in an area that until recently had a strong focus on its Pleasure Island nightclubs.
T-Rex will be open for lunch and dinner, with a menu shaped in collaboration with Landry's Restaurants Inc.
T-Rex will seat 620 patrons and will include dozens of life-sided robotic dinosaurs.
It will add to restaurant seating in the shopping and entertainment area where Rainforest Cafe has been busy.
Disney closed its Pleasure Island clubs last month after announcing plans to retool Downtown Disney. The company said guests wanted more shopping and dining options.
Downtown Disney offers free parking.
