TAMPA - A routine urine test turned sour for a Tampa man caught at his probation office with a device used to beat the test, authorities say.
Michael Frazier, 21, was being held without bail at Orient Road Jail today. He is charged with violating his probation on felony forgery and grand theft charges and a new offense: fraudulent urine testing.
The new charge is a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison, according to state statutes.
Court records show that Frazier is on probation until 2010. As a condition of his probation, he must submit to random drug screening.
Frazier reported to the probation office at 1313 N. Tampa St. about 10:45 a.m. Monday for a drug test, an affidavit states. Officials found that he had an elastic tube containing urine that he planned to use to beat the test, the affidavit states.
