Tampa Police Report Arrest In Robbery At Howard Johnson

TAMPA - Police have charged a man with kidnapping and armed robbery, saying he and another man bound and robbed three people at a Howard Johnson hotel last week.
Emmanuel Diaz, 26, of Tampa, was being held without bail at Orient Road Jail today. Tampa police arrested him Monday in the 9300 block of Memorial Highway, records show.
According to an affidavit, Diaz was one of two men who accosted three people at the Howard Johnson at 2055 N. Dale Mabry Highway about 4:50 a.m. Friday.
The other man is not identified in the affidavit. No other information about him was available Tuesday.
The affidavit states that Diaz and the other man forced the trio into a laundry room, bound them with duct tape and stole their cell phones, a wallet and hotel key. They then stole $1,380 cash from the hotel room, the affidavit states.
