TIA Police Say Woman Had Switchblade In Handbag

TAMPA - Police at Tampa International Airport on Monday arrested a woman after security screeners found a switchblade knife inside her handbag, an affidavit states.

Cynthia A. Hammond, 48, was released from a Hillsborough County jail on Monday after posting $7,500 bail. Jail records show she is charged with being a felon in possession of a concealed weapon.

According to the affidavit, Hammond was convicted of felony forgery in Florida in 1983.

The knife was found within an interior pocket of Hammond's handbag, the affidavit states.
