PepsiCo will eliminate 40 jobs at Tropicana in Bradenton as part of an overall restructuring plan, in which it will eliminate a total of 3,300 positions globally and shutter six plants.
The job cuts in Bradenton represent about 3 percent of the company's work force, said Jamie Stein, a spokeswoman for Tropicana.
Stein would not elaborate on which of the company's plants will close or which jobs in Bradenton will be eliminated. PepsiCo, which makes sodas, energy drinks and juice, as well as chips and other snacks, announced plans for an overall restructuring during a conference call on its third quarter results.
The company moved Tropicana's headquarters from Bradenton to Chicago in 2004 to save on costs and has continued to look for more production at the Bradenton plant while slowly eliminating jobs.
