TAMPA - Security workers at Tampa International Airport will get new powers next week that could make a superhero blush.

The Transportation Security Administration will use screening equipment that can peek beneath a passenger's clothing to find concealed explosives, weapons and other dangerous items. The "whole-body imaging" will begin Oct. 24.

Passengers selected for the scan can expect the process to take 10 to 15 seconds, according to the agency. The images are blurry and will be deleted immediately after viewing.

Travelers uncomfortable with the scan can opt for a pat-down by a security officer instead.
