Bay Area Tourism Leaders En Route To South America

TAMPA - Members of the Pinellas and Hillsborough County visitors bureaus are headed to South America today for a joint sales mission in a collaborative step that proponents of more cooperative efforts are likely to applaud.

One outcome of the trip will be that representatives of Tampa Bay & Co., the Hillsborough County visitors group, who are based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, will represent all of Tampa Bay in their sales and marketing efforts.

Leaving today to visit the South America representatives will be Tampa Bay & Co. President and Chief Executive Paul Catoe and director of leisure sales Delia Quiroz, joined by Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater Executive Director DT Minich and director of public relations David Downing and other travel industry partners.

The teams also will head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the largest travel trade event in Latin America from Oct. 21 through 24.
