TAMPA - The state's Board of Governors has formed a search team to find the next leader of Florida's public university system.
Its work will begin later this month, though board Chairwoman Sheila McDevitt has given them no deadline to find a replacement for Chancellor Mark Rosenberg. Rosenberg plans to leave his job in February and join the faculty of Florida International University in Miami.
McDevitt has said she may turn to one of the 11 university presidents to do the job temporarily after Rosenberg leaves.
Meanwhile, McDevitt will join the search team along with board members Carolyn Roberts, John Dasburg, Charles Edwards, Ava Parker, Hector "Tico" Perez and John Temple. Roberts will serve as the search team's chairwoman.
The other search team members are:
• Marshall M. Criser III, president of AT&T Florida and the 2008-09 chairman elect of the Florida Chamber of Commerce
• Dianna Morgan, chairwoman of the University of Florida Board of Trustees
• Rick Walsh, chairman of the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees
• Frank Brogan, president of Florida Atlantic University
• Shane Strum, deputy chief of staff to Gov. Charlie Crist
• Arthur "A.J." Meyer, Florida International University student body president and Board of Governors student representative
• Judith Solano, University of North Florida associate professor of computer and information sciences and Board of Governors faculty representative
