Arcadia Motorcyclist Dies In Hit-And-Run Crash In Manatee

The driver of a 1999 motorcycle was killed in a hit-and-run crash on State Road 70 in Manatee County early this morning, troopers say.
Scott A. Stevens, 47, of Arcadia, died.
The driver of a 1998 Dodge truck left the scene near State Road 70 and Yanncy Road, and details about the driver are unknown, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred when the truck crossed the center line and struck the front of the motorcycle, troopers said. Stevens was thrown from his motorcycle. After hitting the motorcycle, the Dodge ran off the road and struck a barb wire fence.
The truck sustained $12,000 damage, and the driver left the scene, troopers say.
