Police: Man Dead After Shooting In Sarasota

Sarasota police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night in the 1800 block of 20th Street.
Officers responded to an emergency call of "shots fired" about 8:10 p.m., police spokesman Capt. Stan Duncan said in a statement. Officers checked the area but could not find witnesses or evidence of a shooting.
Ten minutes later, dispatcher received another 911 call about a shooting victim and went to 20th Street, where they found a man lying inside the doorway of his home, Duncan said.
Detectives are investigating the shooting and processing the crime scene. The incident has been ruled a homicide, Duncan said.
