TAMPA - A 37-year-old St. Petersburg man who pleaded guilty to drug charges was sentenced today to 24 1/2 years in prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Vincent Bush's sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release, U.S. District Judge James Moody ruled.
Bush pleaded guilty on Jan. 8 for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, powdered cocaine and marijuana, as well as possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
After an undercover operation, authorities served a search warrant on Bush's residence and found drugs, guns and ammunition, prosecutors say. Bush was already a convicted felon and was, at the time of the search, on federal supervision after his release from prison on a 1998 crack cocaine distribution charge, prosecutors say.
For violating his supervised release, U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday imposed a 24-month sentence to run consecutively with the 24 1/2 year-sentence for the drug charges, the attorney's office said.
Altogether, Bush's prison sentence is 26 1/2 years.
