Pasco County deputies are investigating the discovery of a body in the county's oldest cemetery today.
A man's body was found in Tucker Cemetery, at Melrose Avenue and Old Lakeland Highway near Richland, about 12:50 p.m., sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said.
The body was that of Thomas Ousley, 47, who lived nearby, deputies said.
Ousley's wife reported him missing today. On Thursday, a sheriff's deputy ticketed his pickup because it was blocking the entrance to the historic cemetery, which was established before 1865 and now is the resting place for indigents. The deputy didn't see anyone near the truck.
Ousley didn't come home from work Thursday. When he didn't show up from work today, his boss drove through the area, saw Ousley's truck at the cemetery and found the body.
The Zephyrhills man's body was discovered at the rear of the property – about 50 yards from about a dozen freshly dug graves.
The medical examiner will determine whether the death was foul play or a suicide, deputies say.
"At this point, we don't know if it's suicide or something worse than that," Doll said.
