In the midst of an economic crisis, Brandon High keeps doing what is has done for decades - put on a big show for Homecoming at a low price.
Student government members, select volunteers and parents have been working for a year to create a homecoming dance with a theme that was kept secret until students arrived for the dance at 8 p.m. Friday.
When classes ended Thursday, students started transforming the bland hallways and cafeteria to a magical Cirque du Soleil showplace.
The $15 tickets pay for the event. Other high schools are starting to switch to homecoming dances at their schools rather than rent expensive ballrooms and decorators. Others are considering it.
